It is possible that there will not be another postage rate increase until 2006. This is welcome news for all mailers after receiving one to two per year over the last several years.

The analysis has been verified and the USPS has a windfall of 27 billion dollars. The "found" money is a result of an over funded retirement plan. Yet to be confirmed is the action required by Congress that will keep the 27 billion with the Postal Service and not allow it to flow into a general federal fund.

The current rates shown on this website took effect 6/30/02. As part of the settlement, the USPS has agreed not to ask for another rate increase in 2002.

Priority Mail

Parcels that weigh less than 15 pounds but measure more than 84 inches in combined length and girth are charged the applicable rate for a 15-pound parcel.

The 1-pound rate is charged for matter sent in a Priority Mail flat-rate envelope provided by the USPS, regardless of the actual weight of the piece.
